Two Florida Players Share $14 Million

The $14 million Florida Lotto jackpot of 21 October was shared by two players, according to Florida Lottery officials. The winning numbers were 04, 07, 08, 11, 20 and 27 and the winning tickets were sold in Jupiter and Port Saint Lucie. The retailers selling the jackpot-winning tickets will each receive a cash bonus of $12,500.

The Florida Lotto game requires players to pick 6 numbers from 1-53. If a player matches all six then they win the jackpot or a share thereof. The lottery draw takes place twice a week (on Wednesdays and Saturdays) at 11pm.

There are four main tiers of prizes ranging from $5 to the jackpot itself. The approximate odds of winning each prize (which is estimated and in reality varies from draw to draw) are as follows:

Match 6 of 6 to win the jackpot Odds = 1 in 22,957,480
Match 5 of 6 to win $5,000 Odds = 1 in 81,409
Match 4 of 6 to win $70 Odds = 1 in 1,415
Match 3 of 6 to win $5 Odds = 1 in 70

On 21 October, 183,000 players won a prize in addition to the two jackpot ticket holders. The breakdown and actual prize amounts was:

  • 267 players matched 5 of 6 and won $1,809
  • 11,369 players matched 4 of 6 and won $34.50
  • 171,576 players matched 3 of 6 and won $3.50

The estimated jackpot for the next Florida Lotto, to be drawn on Wednesday 25 October, is $3 million.
