Syndicate wins UK Triple Rollover

A syndicate of fourteen postal workers from Manchester scooped half of the UK’s triple rollover Lotto jackpot on Saturday 14 October. The half-share was worth £9,355,603. The syndicate, organised by Kevin Jones, has been playing a regular set of numbers since the UK lottery began in 1994.

Although the UK Lotto triple rollover draw took place on Saturday evening, the win wasn’t discovered until Sunday morning when Kevin checked his numbers against the results published in his newspaper.

“I was relaxing at home reading the paper when I saw the Lotto numbers, so I went and got the syndicates’ Lotto tickets and began to check off the numbers,” he explains. “I picked up the first set of numbers, out of the 32 lines we play as a syndicate, and went through them one by one. Before I knew it I had checked off all six numbers on the first ticket! Not believing it I checked through the numbers in the paper and on the ticket again and then once more on teletext to make sure there wasn’t a misprint. My disbelief turned to ecstasy when I realised we had actually won!

“Wanting to share the good news, I called as many of the syndicate as I could, as well as my family,” he continues. “However it wasn’t until we got into work on Monday that we were able to get the whole syndicate together so that they could all hear the good news. I wish I had caught their faces on camera, it was a brilliant moment!”

Although some members of the syndicate have chosen to remain anonymous, Kevin has said that everyone is busy thinking about what to do with their wealth, and that the shopping list compiled so far included everything from new cars to new homes.

“It really is too early to say at this stage how we will be spending our winnings,” Kevin admits. “But one thing is for sure, it will mean greater financial security for all of us for the future and we are all looking forward to enjoying our new found wealth.”
