Tarot Tipped Thunderball

A tarot card reader's prediction of lottery success came true for Nigel Cummings of Evesham, who won the £250,000 Thunderball jackpot on Saturday 14 April. Nigel's wife Caroline had been told during a tarot reading that her husband would win the lottery, but Caroline didn't pay much attention to the prediction until it came true!

Nigel, who owns his own transportation business, watched the draw unfold live on television. At first he thought he had won a small prize, but when he checked his ticket he discovered that he had actually matched all five numbers to scoop the Thunderball jackpot. And that was when Caroline remembered the words of the tarot card reader... and she finally got around to telling her husband about the prediction.

"Caroline hadn't mentioned the tarot card prophecy as I'm a bit sceptical about those kinds of things - but I think I'll certainly believe in it in the future," Nigel said. "When I found out we'd won, I jumped up, picked up Caroline and danced around the living room! We immediately called our children to let them know the good news. We then grabbed a bottle of champagne and ran round to our neighbours to help us celebrate in style."

Nigel's luck had been getting better all the way up to the Thunderball draw. Earlier that day he had enjoyed the thrill of winning on National Lottery scratch cards. Nigel and Caroline have said they hope some of their luck is shared by Cheltenham Town Football Club, their favourite team. Cheltenham beat Oldham 2-0 on the day of the winning Thunderball draw, so the couple will be waiting to see if a good run of results is in store.

The couple have not yet made any firm plans about how they will spend their £250,000 windfall, but they have said that they will give their teenage children Danny and Claire a part in the decision making process.
