Syndicate Engineers Success>

A syndicate of eight workers at engineering solutions firm Fluid Power Designs in Grantham, Lincolnshire, scooped a second-tier Lotto prize of £105,592 after matching five main numbers plus the bonus ball in the draw on Wednesday 30 May. The winning numbers for this draw were 2, 20, 22, 25, 41, 47, and the bonus ball that was so important for the syndicate was 37.

The syndicate bought their winning ticket, which consisted of regular numbers, from their local Tesco store. But they didn't discover their win until a parent of one of the members thought she recognised some of the numbers that had been drawn suggested that they check their tickets.

"We only found out we'd won when the mother of one of our syndicate members phoned him at work and suggested we check the results," explained Fred Brown, who acts as the spokesman for the syndicate. "She recognised some of the numbers from our usual lines. There was first a feeling of total disbelief in the office when we checked the numbers and found out we had won. Then everyone started jumping around and celebrating."

The eight syndicate members are now thinking carefully about what they will do with their windfall. Holidays, new computers, new televisions and new cars are all on the shopping lists that have been drawn up so far.

This engineering syndicate win is the latest in a string of lottery wins in Lincolnshire. A syndicate of care workers from Bourne won £53,984 on April 15th of this year. Then just a couple of weeks later, on April 30th, Steve Appleby won a Lotto jackpot worth a massive £3,045,705.

"The win is really fantastic for all us and it is great to be able to share it," Fred said. "We are all discussing how we are going to spend the money and already comparing notes on TV's, cars and holidays."
