Horoscope Predicts Jackpot Win!
UK Lotto player Brenda Portch is seeing stars after her newspaper horoscope predicted a lucky win and the predicted came true on 18 October to the tune of £1,487,099. Brenda, who is a grandmother from Kingswinford in part of the UK known as "the Black Country", won a 50% share of the £2.97 million Lotto jackpot.
"It's amazing that I have won," Brenda said. "I have always had a feeling I would win the lottery and on Wednesday my horoscope for Taurus said: 'You will have luck on a bingo or lottery ticket and share a secret with a friend'. Who would have believed it would come true."
Brenda saw her horoscope prediction become a reality as she watched the Lotto draw unfold live on BBC television and noted the numbers down on her newspaper. To her astonishment, the six numbers drawn were the same ones that she had on her ticket, but she wanted a second opinion to confirm the fact.
"I was really shocked," Brenda explains. "I phoned my son and he checked on teletext and confirmed I had matched six. I wanted to share the good news with all the family so I drove round to see my daughter and two sons.
"I then went round to see one of my sisters, Denise, and we both went round to our other sister Dinkie's house where we celebrated, unbelievably, with a cup of coffee. I gave Dinkie the ticket for safe keeping and she hid it in her husband Ted's underwear draw as we decided that was the last place anyone would want to look!"
Like all lottery jackpot winners, Brenda is now thinking hard about the best ways to put her wealth to good use. She already had a holiday booked with her sisters to visit a nephew in Philadelphia, so they will now be upgrading to first class tickets.
Brenda has also decided to invest in a new house and buy a new car to go with it. But her main priority is her family - Brenda has a husband, two adult children in their thirties, eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. And there's a ninth grandchild on the way!
"Family really does come first with me and this win means the world to me," Brenda said. "It means I can really look after the people I love."
