New York Lottery
The New York Lottery began in 1967, making it one of the oldest lotteries in the USA. The motto of the New York Lottery is ‘raising billions to educate millions’, and every penny of profit generated from the sales of New York Lottery tickets is used to fund a variety of educational programmes in New York State. Having offered a variety of lottery games over more than 40 years, the total amount of money raised by the New York Lottery for education exceeds $34 billion, and that total grows with every new ticket sold.

Buying New York Lottery Tickets
Playing New York Lottery games has of course been made much easier now that people can purchase their New York Lottery tickets online. Whereas New York Lottery players would once have needed to buy tickets from a retail outlet in New York State in person, they can now go online, enter their numbers into a simple on-screen form and buy their New York Lottery tickets in a matter of minutes – even if they happen to be thousands of miles away from New York State at the time.
The current range of games offered by the New York Lottery is very impressive, and is headed by the two big multi-state lottery games, Powerball and Mega Millions. Those of you who are familiar with these games will already know that Powerball draws take place on Wednesdays and Fridays and the Mega Millions draws are held on Tuesdays and Fridays, so those two games alone give New York Lottery players four chances each week to win some seriously massive jackpots. Other games that are more specific to the New York Lottery include the following:
Sweet Million – The Sweet Million game requires New York Lottery players to select 6 numbers from the range 1 to 40. Draws are held every Monday and Thursday and the jackpot is worth $1,000,000. What makes this New York Lottery game quite special is that all players who match all 6 numbers win $1,000,000 each – the jackpot isn’t shared between them as it might be in other lottery games.
New York Lotto – This is often described by New York Lottery players as the Classic Lotto game. To win the jackpot the New York Lottery player must select – and correctly match – 6 numbers from the range 1 to 59. There are two New York Lotto draws each week and these take place on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Pick 10 – Pick 10 is a New York Lottery game that has daily drawings, and as the name suggests, New York Lottery players have to pick 10 numbers from the range 1 to 80. When the draw takes place, 20 balls are selected at random, and players win a jackpot prize of $500,000 if they match all 10 of their picks. Smaller prizes are paid to players who match 9, 8, 7, 6 or even 0 of their picks.
There are many more games that New York Lottery players can participate in, including dozens of instant win and scratchcard games at a wide range of prices, but the games outlined above tend to be the most popular with the largest number of players.
