California Lottery player wins $10m

A lottery player from the city of Burbank in California has struck gold by winning last Saturday’s SuperLotto Plus jackpot. Brian McMahon let out a piercing yell of "Woo!" when he found out he’d won first prize following the draw on February 19. He regularly plays SuperLotto Plus, Mega Millions and Fantasy 5, and now he's won big and become an instant multi-millionaire, Mr McMahon told lottery organisers he’s ready to have a “great life”.

California Lottery syndicate wins $12m

A group of clerical workers from a school in Montebello, California, have scooped a whopping $12million on the state's SuperLotto Plus draw. The 11 co-workers have been playing together for the past two years, and always buy lottery tickets from the same 7-Eleven store. One member said that it was the retailer's "positive energy" that convinced them to keep playing there, and after seeing their lottery numbers come up in Saturday's draw they were certainly glad they had.

Final countdown begins for California Lottery winner

A California Lottery player who won almost $200,000 in a draw last year has only a few days left in which to claim the prize. Lottery winners in the state have a total of 180 days from the time of their win to come forward, validate their ticket and officially register a claim. But organisers haven’t heard a peep from the player who decided to buy lotto tickets for the draw on August 3, 2010 at Lorena Market on Olympic Boulevard in Los Angeles, and went on to win $197,117.

Third time extra lucky for California Lottery player

A man who twice won $5,000 prizes on the California Lottery in the 1990s completed an impressive hat trick of wins on Tuesday, when he scooped over half a million dollars. David Williams Jr, of Orangeville, California, managed to match five of the six main numbers in the Mega Millions draw on January 18. He correctly selected the numbers 4, 27, 29, 38 and 45 to net an impressive $581,319.
